Whether you’re looking to start a side hustle or are pretty well-established in your small business, understanding the customer journey is crucial to the success of your business.
The customer journey pinpoints your customer’s experience of your brand from start to finish. The easiest way to break down your customer journey is through the following 4 stages.
1. THE RECOGNITION STAGE - Your customer finds out about your business.
2. THE SEARCH FOR INFO STAGE - Your customer is researching your products/services.
3. THE EVALUATION STAGE - Your customer is comparing your products/services and weighing whether they should trust you.
4. THE PURCHASE STAGE - Your customer has decided to purchase your product/service.
5. THE POST-PURCHASE STAGE - You encourage your customer to repurchase your product/service.
Weird fact: the customer journey is a lot like dating. Think about it this way.
The Recognition stage is when they discover that they may be interested. Keyword: May. Do you have what they need?
The Search For Info stage is your first date. Your customer is just getting to know you. What are you all about? Do your values align? What's your WHY?
At the Evaluation stage, just like dating, your customer might meet someone else. It’s possible that your customer might ghost you. It’s up to you to show them how excellent you are and why they would be nuts to do so.
The Purchase Decision stage = Committed. Good news. They’re in love with you and they want to move in together (move in together = give you money)
And let's not forget the Post-Purchase stage. You may be together but you still have to put the effort in to keep that spark alive.🔥 Would they choose you again and again? Or would be tempted to try others? Whoops!
